Career Transition Network, LLC, (CTN) began as a venue to assist mortgage bankers through challenging times. Founded by Shirley M. Clark after the 2007 National MBA conference in Boston, with seed money from Sponsors, CTN offers a place where anyone in career transition can access resources, share stories and learn from others. The second release of the site presents a job posting page, chat room and coach’s corner to the existing resources. The webinars, facilitated by CTN, offer coaching on topics related to leadership and career transition.

In 2004, Ms. Clark also co-founded Choose 2 Lead, a nonprofit organization whose mission was partially enabled by work with the U.S. Department of Labor. Under a research grant, Shirley was able to meet with women across the country in career transition and directly hear their challenges. This work, along with the specific needs of the mortgage industry prompted the development of CTN. Many volunteers contributed their time to research the initial content – much of what is seen today. With the technical help of Monica Sethi, the site you are now experiencing was developed.

Ms. Clark is a business and leadership consultant and coach. She participates on panels, presents at workshops, facilitates planning sessions, speaks and writes on issues affecting the lives of working individuals. She is an advocate for personal and professional leadership through informed choice and applies these principals to her coaching work with those in career transition. “We all have the ability within us to lead the life we desire,” she said at a recent event, “we just need to recognize where we can make more powerful choices.”
